Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not
afraid, neither be dismayed: for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
In more than over no times, God tells us in His Word, "fear
not". He gives the reason why we should not be afraid: "for I am with
you."
God told Joshua this very thing when Joshua found himself in a challenging
situation.
When Moses died, God chose Joshua to succeed him. He was tasked to lead
the children of Israel to the Promised Land.
Joshua was stepping into the shoes of that great prophet of God who
struck a rock and water came forth, who prayed and manna fell from heaven, who
stretched forth his rod and parted the Red Sea.
The Promised Land was also occupied by giants and it was going to take
fierce battle to take possession of it.
Moreover, the children of Israel were stubborn and very difficult people
to lead. In order to succeed in his new responsibility, God told Joshua,
"Be strong and very courageous." God tells Joshua this again and
again.
Why? He knows that how we perform have a lot to do with whether we
function in faith or fear.
So He commanded him not to fear. And God reminded Joshua that He is with
him.
Joshua got a hold of that revelation and eventually took the people over
into the Promised Land. And God is telling you today to "fear not".
He will never leave you.
Are you facing a challenging and dreadful situation? Don't be afraid. Be
bold and very courageous for the Lord is with you in whatever you do and
wherever you go.
Prayer: Father, I receive strength in the name of Jesus to overcome the
spirit of fear and timidity.
