I would like to say that while grading my students’ essays there is never a dull moment, but that would be an absolute lie.
Mostly grading students’ essays is a boring, excruciating job. It makes me rethink my college career path, my desire to be a teacher, and life in general. Essays written by twelve year old are life sucking.
But then there are moments, just a line or two, that flip switches. Maybe not in the students’ heads–they still don’t seem to remember to indent a new paragraph or to not use abbreviations in formal writing–but a switch, a light bulb, will go off in my head and, like dominoes, one thing leads to another and then there we are.

There are about a million different ways I could go right now. Those two sentences are so full of confusion and discussion points, I could probably make those lines a series of posts, but where I’m going has to do with “soul mates.” The first thing I wanted to do was run home and tell my children–my daughters–that soul mates aren’t real. That this isn’t something to dream about, something to wish and hope for. Because it will let you down and make all your real, healthy, and sometimes-disappointing relationships feel less than.The only thing stopping me from this conversation is that my daughters are three and five. They think they’re going to grow up and marry their daddy. They’re not sure if they’ll be the husband or the wife though because those are confusing words to remember. In our house gender roles are the exact opposite of societal norms. I don’t want them to know how our house works isn’t “normal.” I don’t want them to think one way is normal, I want them to figure out what works best for their world when they finally get to make their own.
But I don’t want them to long for, look for, or hold out hope for their soul mate. Because they will always be let down. Chris Graham is not my soul mate. He is my husband, my best friend, my lover, my favorite person to talk to, my biggest cheerleader, and my family.
But he does not complete me, fill me up, or make my world.

He challenges me, encourages me, and talks me down off cliffs, but he isn’t the end-all-be-all of my world. That is a dangerous thing to ask of a relationship because I’m in love with and married to a flawed man. And he married a really flawed Mary. The idea that I can complete the hole he has in his heart, this want for something to fill him up, is wrong and destined to be painful. Because that hole isn’t of this world. That want and need we have for someone to know us, really know us, will never be satisfied while we’re here on earth.
And I think that idea, that lie we’ve been sold, damages so many relationships, ends marriages, and leaves countless people unhappy when they’ll truly never be happy.

I love my husband. I think he’s pretty awesome or I wouldn’t have married him and had some babies with him. He makes my life more interesting, makes me better, and loves me even when I’m not very lovable (which is a lot of the time). I picked a good one, for sure. And I’m glad he’s in my life.

But if I hadn’t met him, I think my life would still be pretty good. I wasn’t waiting for someone else to come along and rescue me from my horrible existence. I had a good existence before him. I was loved and cared for and fought for by a Father that made me whole in a way no one else could.
Soon I’m going to let my daughters in on the “soul mate” secret. That it’s made up and dangerous and unrealistic. That their God loves them more than any man ever could and that no one will ever come along and complete them the way they long to be completed. Their longing isn’t of this world. But that isn’t to say I don’t want them to find amazing husbands one day. It’s something I pray about often, asking God to be molding those young men–wherever they are–to be good mates for my girls, to be strong men of God, to have character above everything else. But that they don’t look to complete a girl’s life, either. That they’re pretty good on their own and then they meet one of my amazing daughters and they’ll want to do life together. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. - Ephesians 1:3

To be a child of God is to be a blessed person. When we make Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour, we enter into a covenant relationship of blessing with God.

This is blessing we receive as a result of our relationship and not as a reward for our efforts. In Christ Jesus, we inherit divine blessing through grace.

• Our blessing covers all things: God has made provision for everything we will ever need and has prepared resources for these needs in advance. For every challenge that will ever face us in life, the Lord has made provision ready and waiting.

• Our blessing is spiritual: God's provision for us starts as a spiritual reality which we must believe for and pray into manifestation in the natural realm at the appropriate time.

• Our blessing is in heavenly places: God's provision for us is based on His resources in heaven. He is not limited by our earthly limitations and so we can trust Him for supply even when our earthly circumstances appears hopeless.

• Our blessing is in Christ: God's provision is available because of what Christ accomplished through the sacrifice of His life on the cross and His ongoing ministry as our High Priest at the right hand of the Father.

It is only in Him that we are able to fully lay hold on all the benefits the Father has made available to us.

What Causes Your eyes to burn and turn red while swimming Not Chlorine

Think it's chlorine that causes your eyes to redden and sting after an afternoon in the community pool? The truth is much more gross: it's urine mixing with the chemicals.

"When we go swimming and we complain that our eyes are red, it's because swimmers have peed in the water," says Michele Hlavsa, chief of the CDC's healthy swimming program. "The nitrogen in the urine combines with the chlorine and it forms what's known as chloramine and it's actually chloramine that causes the red eyes. It's not the chlorine itself. It's chlorine mixed with poop and sweat and a lot of other things we bring into the water with us."In fact, Hlavsa says, the stronger the chlorine smell at a pool, the more filled with pee it is. Healthy pools don't smell like chemicals.

Anyone thinking chlorine's job is to clean their personal pee from a swimming pool, should know that chlorine can't even begin to deal with your pee. Its plate is full with E. coli and other germs. Once people start adding pee, poop, sweat, and dirt to the equation, it starts to try to tackle those instead, leaving it with little energy for anything else, says Hlavsa.

This isn't news to experts like Hlavsa. "I just don't think this is on people's radars," she says. "People think waterborne disease is something that happens outside the United States. But really, we have plenty of them here."

If you own your own pool, the CDC urges that you test the water. "Buy a pool tester," says Hlavsa. "You can get them at big box stores, pool supply stores and hardware stores. You're looking at both the chlorine level and the pH. The chlorine level you're looking for is 1 to 3 ppm. The pH should be between 7.2 to 7.8. The pH is important because it determines how effective that chlorine is."

And, as far as chlorine is concerned, how's this for a not-so-fun fact? Cryptosporidium, a germ that causes diarrhea, can live in chemical-treated water for ten days, says Hlavsa.

So, now that we know all this. What do we do? Stay out of pools forever?

"We don't' want to scare people away from swimming," says Hlavsa. "It's just about doing it in a healthier and safer way. We go biking and we wear helmets. We go in the car and we put our seatbelts on. We're just saying, this is a healthier way to swim." 

Shower before getting into the water.

Take a solid minute to wash dirt and germs off. Also, rinse off your body again when you leave the water.

Got diarrhea or other bowel issues? Stay out of the water.

Don't pee or poop in the water!

We've heard this this since we were kids. If you have kids, nag them too. Also, keep in mind, a toddler's swim diapers aren't leak proof.

Don't swallow the water.

Don't even put it in your mouth. Are you even tempted to anymore?

3). Never use attitudes and moods to communicate to your Wife , you never know how She will interpret them.(Prov 15v13)

4). Never compare your wife to other women, you have no idea what their lives are all about.

5). Never ill treat your Wife's friends because you don't like them. If You dont like them, talk to your Wife with reasonable facts. (Prov 11v22)

6). Don't ignore your Wife all through the day ( no communication) and Remember her when it is bed time.

7). Never despise your wife because she doesn't contribute financially. Instead, encourage her by either sponsoring her in a trade, or enrolling her in a professional course. Help her find a way of getting financial freedom.

9).Remember that an intimate night is prepared in the day. Sex isn't only an assignment, but a moment of pleasure and communion. (SS 7v12)

10) Don't be selfish in bed. Take your time, never be in a Rush... And pay much attention to the Sexual Needs of your wife. Women don't function as men.

11). Never let anybody talk to your wife anyhow in your presence. Defend and protect her at all times.

12). Never shout or challenge your wife in front of children(Eph 4v31)

13). Do not be stingy with compliments. Appreciate your wife when she is well dressed or has just had her hair done. (Prov 12v4)

14). Be generous...don't wait for special occasions to please your wife. Eph 5:29

15). Your parents, family or friends do not have the final say in your marriage. Don't waste your time looking up to them for a final word.(Luke 21v16)

16). God has the power to transform your wife. Sow in her all that you want to harvest. Love your Wife. Eph 5:26-27 )

17.) Don't forget that women want attention and good listeners, never be too busy for her . (Gal 6v9)

18). Be confident. Accept ideas from your wife if they are better than yours. She is your helper, not your opponent.

19). Don't be too judgemental to your Wife .(Eph 4v29)

20). Be Clean, well shaved and wear good perfumes. Dress up as best as you can. Women love neat men. ( Prov 24v27, Proverbs 20v13 )

21). Your house is not a hotel where you come only to sleep. Give time to your family, returning earlier to be with your wife.

22). Don't associate with Men who have a wrong mental attitude about marriage.(Prov 22v14)

23). Your marriage is as valuable to you as the value that you give it. Recklessness is unacceptable.(Heb 13v4)

24). The Fruit of the womb is a blessing from the Lord, don't consider your wife responsible for any delays. Sort it out in prayers. (Gen 25:2)

25). It's your responsibility to pray for and teach your family according to Gods word. Don't make it the sole responsibility of your wife: Source from God's property

OUR SIGN TO A LOST WORLD

For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. - 1 Corinthians 1:22-24

Sometimes we may think, If only I could perform a miracle for my friends, I know they would all become Christians. But I don't think that is true. Even when Jesus walked on this earth and performed so many miracles so many signs so many still did not believe.

Lazarus was a living, breathing miracle man who had been dead and was alive again. So the leading priests wanted to kill Lazarus too (see John 12:10-11).

As a Christian, you are a miracle man or woman. You have a testimony of what God has done for you, and that is why people oppose you and ridicule you.

Our sign to a lost world is Jesus crucified, risen again from the dead, and alive. The apostle Paul said, And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified" (1 Corinthians 2:1-2).

We don't need to add to this message or take away from it. We don't need to apologize for it. We just need to proclaim it and watch God do His thing.

Paul also said, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek" (Romans 1:16).

That word "power" speaks of explosive, dynamite power. There is explosive power in the message of Christ. This is our sign to a lost world.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to empower you to be a living testimony of His glory.
